Yami Gautam has established a firm footprint in Hindi cinema, her catalogue of work speaking volumes about the type of legacy she wishes to leave behind. She has always been recognized for her unconventional approach to selecting films, which may as well have been influenced by her educational background.
Countess residents in India dream of the life of glam and showbiz, settings their minds to make it from a very young age. However, this was not entirely the case with Yami Gautam.
As a young blooming student, she told her father that she wanted to be in an entirely different field of work. She said, “It’s true, I wanted to become an IAS officer. I was studying Law in Chandigarh, and I was a sincere student. Acting wasn’t something I openly spoke about.”
Movies were still a factor of loved interest. Yami added, “I simply loved films. I’d watch performances and quietly imagine myself playing those characters. It was a private dream more than an ambition because I never thought I’d have the courage to pursue it.”
Yami Gautam holds immense gratitude towards her close ones for their constant push. She said, “Family, friends, told me auditions were happening in Chandigarh for a television show. I wasn’t interested initially but they insisted. I treat it as an experience. My father filmed my audition at home, and director Partho Mitra really liked it.”
Yami Gautam is currently gearing up to be seen on the big screen in her upcoming release, Nayyi Navelli, on October 16, 2026. She will be seen taking on the role of a supernatural bride entering a chaotic family and turning it around into a paradise. All goes well until her brother-in-law begins to grow suspicious. It is to be seen how the narrative unfolds and if the family will be able to survive.
