Actress Hayden Panettiere passed away on August 16, 2026, leaving her close family and industry colleagues heartbroken. She was just 36 at the time of her demise. Amid that, her mother, Lesley Vogel’s interview about her resurfaced, where she denied subjecting her daughter to immense pressure and abuse.
Lesley Vogel refuted being abusive towards Hayden Panettiere and coercing her into acting
Hayden Panettiere and her mother, Lesley Vogel didn’t share an amicable relationship. They were estranged for years, which the Nashville alum documented in her tell-all memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning. In the months leading up to Hayden’s demise, Lesley publicly called her daughter out for her alleged wrongful portrayal in her book. Hayden wrote in her book that her mother coerced her into acting at a tender age and that she always had to act according to Lesley’s wishes.
Refuting those claims, Lesley Vogel stated that she never pressured her daughter into a career in show business. Lesley told the Daily Mail that she never coerced Hayden into becoming a child actor or doing anything that she was not comfortable with. She argued that it was logically impossible for someone to make an infant aged two to five years do something against their wishes.
