James Gunn has been standing on business since the day he got promoted to being the Co-Chairman and CEO of DC Studios. Not only does he overlook all the projects being carried in DC, but he also plays a crucial part in writing and directing movies for the same. James Gunn comes with a rich filmography of movies, specifically catering to superheroes. These include Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 1,2,3), The Suicide Squad, Super, and the latest, Superman.
Henry Cavil created a legacy for himself with his portrayal of Superman for the Man of Steel series. After hanging up his cape, the void he left behind was subtle but loud. James Gunn took it upon himself to begin filming the new Superman, around the same time he entered DC, initiating the creation of the new DC Universe (DCU)
David Corenswet was the new cast to dawn the cape of Superman, and by all means has done justice to the superhero. In comparison to Henry Cavill’s rendition of the role, David represented a more hopeful and calm-demeanoured Superman. While the movie left the fans divided, the box office spoke volumes on how well received the new Superman was.
To bask in the glory of the reception, James Gunn has begun work for the sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow. He finally took to Instagram to reveal the progress. He said, “That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow.” After that he goes on to show his gratitude to his entire cast and crew.
Apart from David Corenswet, another familiar face we will most likely be seeing is the antagonist from the first movie, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). Another important piece of information we have as of now is that both Superman and Lex Luthor will be reluctantly teaming up against a greater force.
Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to release on July 9, 2027.
