Jyotika Backs Student Protesters Calls For Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhans Resignation

The wave of support from the film industry for the student-led protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar continues to gather momentum. Actor Jyotika has now joined the growing list of public figures speaking in solidarity with the movement, sharing a powerful statement on social media that called for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down while expressing unwavering support for the students.

Taking to Instagram, Jyotika posted a strongly worded message that reflected her concern over the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged NEET paper leak and the larger demand for accountability in the country’s education system.

Her post quickly gained traction online, with many applauding the actor for taking a clear stand on an issue that has sparked nationwide debate.

Jyotika Demands Accountability, Backs Students

Jyotika opened her statement with a direct appeal, writing, “Step down Dharmendra Pradhan. Resign.”

She went on to explain why she believes the protests deserve widespread support, saying, “I stand with the students and the future of our nation. I stand with accountability. I stand for a democratic India. I stand for a reformed education.”

The actor also extended her support to environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been actively associated with the movement, and acknowledged the efforts of student activists Abhijeet Dipke and Saurav Das.

In one of the most heartfelt sections of her message, Jyotika praised the younger generation for refusing to stay silent.

“As mothers, we want to raise our children to be like you. Proud of you, Gen Z, for being unfiltered. You have proved that together, ‘WE’ are India.”

She concluded by thanking the students for inspiring courage among people across the country, writing, “Thank you for breaking the pressure. Thank you for making us fearless. Jai Hind.”

Her statement has since been widely shared on social media, adding another prominent voice from the film fraternity to the ongoing conversation.

More Film Personalities Rally Behind The Movement

Jyotika’s statement comes at a time when support from the Tamil film industry continues to grow. Earlier this week, filmmaker Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Cultural Centre organised a protest at Rajarathinam Stadium in Chennai’s Egmore, bringing together several leading voices from Tamil cinema.

The gathering was attended by filmmakers Vetri Maaran and Ameer, singer and rapper Arivu, actor Andrea Jeremiah, music composer Sai Abhyankkar and several other artists who voiced their solidarity with the students.

In recent days, a number of prominent actors and filmmakers have also publicly expressed support for the movement. Kamal Haasan, Mari Selvaraj, Arun Matheswaran, Vijay Sethupathi, Seenu Ramasamy, Ken Karunaas, Priyamani and Anasuya Bharadwaj are among those who have spoken about the issue, reflecting the growing concern within the entertainment industry.

The protests, which began with students demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak, have evolved into a broader conversation about transparency, institutional responsibility and reforms within India’s education system.

With Jyotika now adding her voice to the movement, the list of celebrities standing alongside the protesters continues to expand, underscoring the increasing support the campaign is receiving from across the film fraternity.
