Jyotika shares how she left films at 28, to manage her kid’s dabbas at home
For the unversed, Surya and Jyotika had met in 1999 when Poovellam Kettupar was being filmed and the actor was trying to make his mark. Suriya was impressed by Jyotika’s dedication towards learning the Tamil language and found it attractive. It created a spark between the two. Jyotika, in a recent interview with the Screen, shared she and Suriya had focused on parenting when they were at the peak of their career. She agreed that kids were their top priority at home and they were fine with leaving fame outside. In her words:
“I guess we leave the superstardom outside the door when we enter home. There, we are just parents of our kids. And yeah, the dabbas… definitely the prominence is given to our children. It’s more about what’s going in their school dabbas (tiffin boxes) in the morning. One dabba leaves early morning at 6 o’clock with him to school while the younger one’s food goes at lunchtime at 12.”
