Kriti Sanon has hit back at naysayers who criticised her Raksha Bandhan advertisement with a post celebrating the festival with her sister, Nupur Sanon. She shared a picture with Nupur in which only their hands are visible.
The sisters are seen holding each other’s hands, with both wearing rakhis. Sharing the photo on Instagram, the actress wrote, “While the Rakhi fashion committee is still in session
We’re focusing on what really matters.
Happy Rakhi to all.”

The post came days after Kriti faced heavy trolling over a Raksha Bandhan jewellery advertisement for a brand. The campaign showed the actress celebrating the festival in an Indo-Western ensemble featuring a bralette-style blouse, cape and draped skirt. A section of social media users criticised the outfit as inappropriate for a festival traditionally associated with family and sibling bonds. The ad also drew criticism for showing Kriti tying a rakhi to her pet dog.
Kriti had earlier responded to the criticism through a strongly worded social media post, questioning why women continue to be judged on the basis of what they wear. She argued that clothing should not be used as a measure of a woman’s culture or values. She also said that the essence of festivals lies in the emotions and relationships they celebrate rather than in the clothes one wears.
Her sister Nupur also came out in her support, writing, “I’m the one she ties the rakhi to, and I’m the one who decides what I feel about it.”
The controversy continued online even after Kriti’s response, with the brand eventually removing the advertisement. The jewellery brand said that the intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments and reiterated its respect for Indian traditions.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kriti was last seen in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2 along with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. She also made a cameo in Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
