In a recent conversation, veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt shared his heartfelt reflections on his granddaughter, Raha Kapoor, describing the profound joy she has brought into their world since her birth in November 2022. For Mahesh Bhatt, the journey of watching his daughter, Alia Bhatt, transition into motherhood was already a significant milestone. However, Raha’s birth added a whole new dimension to his life.
Speaking about Raha, he said, “Raha came into our lives like a drop of divinity. I had barely absorbed the astonishing journey of Alia Bhatt becoming what she has… and then this child arrives. Just the thought of her brings a smile into every pore of my being.” He mentioned that Raha provides a deep sense of continuity, allowing him to witness the flow of life through two generations – his daughter and now her child.
While every grandfather finds their grandchild special, Mahesh highlighted specific qualities that stand out in Raha. He described her as having a fierce vitality and a mind that is sharp, almost evolutionary.
He explained that observing her gives him a unique vantage point on time and existence. He said, “You stand at a vantage point and watch the stream—your daughter, her child—and suddenly you see the continuity of life that has flowed for millennia and will continue long after you are gone.” Despite his years in the spotlight, Mahesh remains grounded in his role as a grandfather, stating that simply speaking to Raha is enough to make his day complete.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor recently marked their fourth wedding anniversary. The couple celebrated the occasion in the scenic, snow-capped mountains of Austria. Alia shared glimpses of their trip on social media, including photos of the couple skating and a sweet moment where Ranbir is seen introducing Raha to animals.
Neetu Kapoor also joined in the celebrations by sharing a picture of the couple, offering her blessings, calling them “her heartbeats”. On the work front, Alia will be seen in Alpha, while Ranbir has begun promotions for his upcoming project, Ramayana Part 1.
