The couple had an intimate ceremony at their home. It was last year when Aamir and Gauri made their relationship official back in 2025, after dating for 18 months. And on July 5, 2026, Aamir tied the knot with Gauri Spratt. Gauri is a successful entrepreneur; however, very few people know that she is the granddaughter of a famous personality, Philip Spratt.
Who is Philip Spratt, Gauri Spratt’s grandfather?
Philip Spratt was an intellectual British who believed in communism. He was sent to India back in 1920 by Russia on a secret mission to launch the Communist Party of India by gathering Indian workers. The secret mission required him to operate under the radar and recruit Indian workers, and he began with the Workers and Peasants’ Party. His network spread from cities like Mumbai to Kolkata, while his goal was to gather the working class, like railway workers, textile mill workers and labourers. Philip wanted the working class to rise up, and this eventually scared the then-British rulers.
However, it was in 1929 that Philip was caught along with 30 working-class leaders, and the same incident was known as the Meerut Conspiracy Case. They were accused of conspiring against the British to escort them out of India. Philip spent 4 years in jail, and during this time, his ideology shifted, and so did his beliefs on communism. After he was released, he met M.N. Roy, and together they began working for human rights, freedom, and democracy in India. By the time India became independent, Philip Spratt had shifted his beliefs, and he stayed in India. He also joined the Swatantra Party, and in the later years of his life, he penned several articles in a magazine named Swarajya, wherein he revealed that communism would have destroyed Indians and their freedom.
