Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has shared an emotional video expressing his support for the ongoing student protests in Delhi.
The protests, which began after the alleged NEET paper leak, have gained significant momentum in recent weeks. On July 20, thousands of students and protesters gathered for the Sansad Chalo march in Delhi, demanding accountability and action. During the demonstration, several protesters were allegedly lathi-charged by the Delhi Police, and tear gas shells were reportedly used to disperse the crowd. The incident sparked widespread outrage, with several celebrities voicing their support for the students.
In his video, Shah compared the police personnel who allegedly lathi-charged the students to America’s ICE agents.
The actor said, “Agar ek jaahil iss mulk ki rehnumaayi kare to uska dil yahi chahega ki poora mulk ussi ki tarah jaahil, nasamajh, naakabil aur berehem bane (If a fool runs this country, his heart will want that the entire country becomes ignorant, foolish, incompetent, and merciless like him).”
He continued, “Iss waqt mera dil bhi bhara hua hai aur main gusse se khaul bhi raha hoon yeh dekhkar ke humare bachchon ke saath kis tarah zulm ka bartaav kiya ja raha hai unn gundon ke haathon joh mujhe America ke ICE agents ki yaad dilate hai, muh pe naqab lagaye hue, haath mein danda liye hue. Kabhi apne bachchon ke baare mein bhi socha karo aur yeh bhi socho tumhara anjaam tumhe bhi ek din milega zaroor. (Right now, my heart is aching, and I am also boiling with anger watching how our kids have been treated by these goons who remind me of American ICE agents, wearing masks and carrying sticks. Think about your own children sometimes and think that you will get your due one day for sure).”

He concluded the video by urging the students not to lose hope, reminding them that they have the support and sympathy of countless people across the country.
Not just Naseeruddin Shah but several others have come out in support, including Shabana Azmi, Diljit Dosanjh, Prakash Raj, Rajkummar Rao, Aditi Rao Hydari and Huma Qureshi.
