An NYPD cop, Rebecca De Paula, passed away after undergoing a breast implant removal surgery in the Dominican Republic. The news of her death has left many in shock, as she was just 31 years old and a mother of three children. Deaths from cosmetic surgeries are suddenly on the rise, as more and more women who are choosing to undergo knife procedures are dealing with complications.

Officer Rebecca died on August 2, 2026, after she developed a severe bacterial infection during the cosmetic procedure at a clinic in Santo Domingo. Rebecca was serving in the New York Police Department for less than two years. Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry confirmed Rebecca’s passing in a statement.
He wrote that their hearts are heavy with the loss of her sister, P.O. Rebecca, who passed away while off duty after only 18 months on the job. They prayed for the family in the difficult time, and wrote:
