The much-anticipated trailer of Operation Safed Sagar has finally been unveiled. Starring an ensemble cast of talented actors, the series is inspired by the untold story of the Golden Arrows Squadron, who fought during the Kargil War. In the summer of 1999, as the Kargil War intensified and Pakistani forces occupied strategic positions across unforgiving mountain terrain, the Indian Army faced an unprecedented challenge. With the battle escalating and the stakes higher than ever, the Indian Air Force was called upon to support the mission, an untold chapter of the Kargil War.
Rooted deeply in real events, this specific chapter gave rise to Operation Safed Sagar, a historic, high-altitude mission that altered the course of the larger conflict and marked a defining moment in India’s history as the world’s highest air operation, performed by the Indian Air Force’s youngest squadron that rose to the occasion to answer the call of duty.
The series brings to life the untold story of the Golden Arrows Squadron, one of the many air warrior, naval, and army units that answered the nation’s call during Operation Safed Sagar.
The trailer gives a glimpse of Flight Commander Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja and his young officers, including Flying Officer R.S. Dhaliwal ‘Dhali’, Flying Officer C.H. Bal Reddy ‘Baldy’, Flight Lieutenant Jitendra Sangwan ‘Sangy’ and Flying Officer Amit Gupta ‘Goofy’, who must navigate impossible odds, life-and-death decisions and the immense responsibility that comes with serving the nation.
Beyond the battlefield, the series also explores the lives of the families, the air force wives who stood behind the men in uniform, offering an intimate look at the love and unwavering support, along with their quiet courage that became the wind beneath the wings of the air warriors. The creators also engaged with the families connected to the operation to better understand the emotional realities behind the mission.
Operation Safed Sagar premieres on August 7, only on Netflix.
Directed by Oni Sen, the series stars an ensemble cast featuring Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin, and Amrita Bagchi, among others.
