The new season of The Last of Us, a hit series based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, arrives in a matter of days. Created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the post-apocalyptic show will see Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as Joel and Ellie, respectively. Ahead of its release, the cast and crew got together for a global press conference, which Filmfare attended. Pascal shed light on his experience of shooting for the project.
Pedro Pascal wasn’t in a healthy mindset for Season 2
After the emotional ending of the first season, the next instalment, set five years later, starts on a sombre note. Joel and Ellie have a fair share of differences. Pascal admitted that the onscreen distance affected him. Opening up about it, he shared, “There’s an incredibly painful distance between the two of them in the playing of the scene, but we still got to be on set and around and laughing and stuff like that.”
“My mindset was that I’m grateful to be back, and yet, at the same time, this experience, more than any other I’ve had, is hard for me to separate what the characters are going through and how it makes me feel, in a way that isn’t very healthy. And I feel their pain, so I suppose I was in an unhealthy mindset,” he added.
About The Last of Us Season 2
The official logline reads, “ Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
The series, which also features Gabriel Luna, Isabella Merced, Young Mazino, Danny Ramirez and more, will release on JioHotstar on April 13, 2025.
