Fashion’s biggest event is here. The Met Gala 2026 is underway at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with this year’s theme centred on Costume Art. Celebrities and notable personalities have stepped onto the red carpet, each bringing their own take on the theme.
Among the Indian attendees was Manish Malhotra, who wore an outfit built on a black base. His shirt was buttoned up to the top with no tie. The trousers were straight and structured, paired with black shoes, keeping the base clean and uniform. Over this, he wore a long black coat covered in white embroidery. The designs resembled small figures, objects and scenes stitched across the fabric. White thread tassels and hanging elements were attached across the shoulders, sleeves and hem, adding movement to the look. Karan Johar was clicked looking chic as ever in an outfit inspired by the art of Raja Ravi Varma, customised specially by Manish Malhotra.
Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie wore a spotted halter-top blouse with black slacks and a coat.
Singer Sam Smith brought a dramatic silhouette to the carpet in a full-length black gown. The outfit had a wide, cape-like structure extending from the arms, spreading outward when lifted. The surface of the gown featured sequins, beadwork, and embroidery. The neckline was high and structured, paired with intricate jewellery. A long train trailed behind, adding length. The look was finished with a headpiece that sat across the forehead and rose into tall black feathers that curved upward.
Several other men made striking appearances on the red carpet, including Tyriq Withers, Ben Platt, Jon Batiste, Luke Evans, Maluma, and Bill Skarsgård, among others.
