Ramayana: Part One Event At Gateway Of India Postponed To May Due To Geopolitical Tensions ?

Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated magnum opus, Ramayana: Part One, is currently one of the most talked-about projects scheduled for release this year. While the film is steadily progressing through its production stage, recent reports indicate a change in plans regarding its grand promotional debut.

The makers had originally planned a massive event to showcase the main characters of the epic at Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India. However, the latest updates suggest that the launch, which was initially planned for March 26 to coincide with the Ram Navami festival, has now been pushed to May.

According to a report by Mid-Day, producer Namit Malhotra decided to postpone the event due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The current global conflict, involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, has created a ripple effect worldwide.

Since Ramayana: Part One is being positioned as a film for a global audience, the team feels that the current international climate is not the right time for such a major reveal. Reports suggest that the makers believe the current situation is not the most conducive environment to reveal such an important aspect of the project, so they do not want to rush it. The official promotional campaign is now expected to begin around May.

The project features a stellar cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, alongside Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Kannada superstar Yash is set to play the role of Ravana, while the film also stars Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

Adding to the film’s scale is a historic musical collaboration between Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, who are working together on the score. Based on the first leg of Valmiki’s Ramayana, this big-budget film is currently slated for a release during the Diwali 2026 window.
