For all those fans who have been waiting with bated breath for the release of highly anticipated two-part epic Ramayana, they may be in for a shock! According to the latest developments, the Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi-starrer may have a different release date for international audience.
Ramayana eyes international markets first
All this while, the makers of Ramayana insisted on a Diwali release but never released any official date. But there seems to be clarity over the film’s release finally. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial is set for global release in international markets on November 6, 2026. And it will release in India two days later on November 8, 2026, coinciding with the Diwali festival.
Speaking to NDTV on the sidelines of the inauguration of his Prime Focus Studio – Phase 1 at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai, producer Namit Malhotra shared the interesting yet key development on the film’s release. Namit, the visionary producer and lead financier behind the epic cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana, explained that Ramayana will release in India on Diwali (November 8) two days after the film’s scheduled global release. “We are releasing internationally (November 6) first because the international distribution works from a Friday viewpoint (November 6). In India, we are eyeing Diwali release.”
Comments send fans into tizzy
Ramayana also features Yash in the role of Ravana. And Sony Pictures is aspiring to take Ramayana to a global audience. They are distributing Ramayana internationally and have already secured 50,000 screens across key overseas markets.
Meanwhile, Namit’s comments have certainly sent all the fans into a tizzy, and triggered debate on social media. Many are expressing concern over this new release strategy. While some argue that if clips of the film emerge online from overseas much before the India release, then it may dilute the excitement of watching the film on silver screen in India.
