
It was in 2015 when Rita Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to undergo a double mastectomy and also a reconstructive surgery back in 2015, after her cancer was detected. Now, Rita shared that she had a very important message for her husband, Tom Hanks, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Sleepless in Seattle star had married Tom Hanks back in 1988. She had written the 2019 song, Throw Me A Party after her diagnosis.

Rita Wilson had sat down for an interview with Demi Moore and spoke about the two requests she made to Tom Hanks after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Rita revealed that she had told Tom not to be sad for a long time if something had happened to her. She wanted him to celebrate her life. Rita Wilson had told Tom that she did not know what would happen to her. She hoped to be alive and had told her husband:
“But I said to Tom, I’m like, ‘Okay, if, if something happens and I go first, I just have two requests. And one is that you should be sad for a very, very long time. So I had a serious discussion with my husband that if anything happens, I wanted him to be super sad for a very long time and I’d also like a party, a celebration.”
