Maa Inti Bangaaram has officially become the highest-grossing female-led film in Tollywood history, the production house owned by Samantha said. The action thriller, made for the family audience, attained this coveted spot by grossing Rs 92 crore worldwide by the end of its second week at the box office. This spectacular run successfully pushed it Rs 2 crore past the lifetime gross of the Keerthy Suresh-starrer Mahanati. Because big-ticket, female-centric movies are rare in the industry, Mahanati’s box office record remained completely unbroken for nearly eight years. It ultimately took Samantha’s massive blockbuster to shatter the long-standing ceiling.

In the elite company of Arundhati
In terms of Return on Investment, the movie shares elite space with Arundhati. The Anushka Shetty-starring supernatural horror fantasy action film was released back in 2009. Arundhati was produced on a modest budget of Rs 15 crore and went on to gross an incredible Rs 70 crore. Similarly, Maa Inti Bangaaram was made on a reported budget of Rs 20 crore. This makes the action film the most profitable Telugu release of the year. The movie has also crossed the prestigious $2 million mark in North America. However, it still has to surpass Mahanati in that specific territory. Mahanati holds a lifetime gross of nearly $2.6 million in North America.
A temporary break from work
Samantha recently mentioned that the overwhelming love from audiences feels completely like a fairy tale. The actress also officially confirmed her pregnancy with her husband Raj Nidimoru. She revealed that she actually shot physically demanding sequences for the film while being pregnant. She announced that she will take a well-deserved maternity break from work. Samantha promised fans that she will take a temporary gap to focus on the new chapter in life. She fully intends to return to the silver screen with MIB 2 in 2028.
