The makers of the viral Malayalam track Kalyani have unveiled Kalyani Remix, bringing singer Shreya Ghoshal on board while Saniya Iyappan headlines the accompanying music video. The remix reunites the original team of ARJN, KDS, RONN and FIFTY4, offering a new take on a song that found listeners well beyond Kerala.
A Malayalam hit gets a new spin
Originally released in Malayalam, Kalyani gained traction through streaming platforms and social media, gradually building an audience across the country and overseas. The remix retains the original composition while introducing Hindi portions sung by Shreya Ghoshal, giving the song a broader linguistic reach without moving away from its original identity.
The original revolves around themes of admiration, romance and longing, using Malayalam lyrics to paint the portrait of its titular character. The new version preserves that emotional core while adding a fresh perspective through Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals.
Alongside the music, the remix is accompanied by a new music video featuring Malayalam actor Saniya Iyappan in the lead. The visuals offer a fresh interpretation of the song while staying rooted in the mood and aesthetic that helped the original connect with listeners.
Building on Kalyani’s popularity
The remix follows the original song’s impressive performance across streaming platforms. Kalyani peaked at No. 17 on Spotify India’s Top 200 chart and climbed to No. 2 on Spotify UAE’s Top 200 chart. It also reached No. 32 on Spotify’s Global Viral Songs chart while charting strongly in markets including Singapore, Malaysia and the UAE, highlighting the growing reach of regional Indian music.
