The trailer of Kunal Kemmu’s upcoming spy comedy Vibe is set to offer a closer look at the chaotic world of its two unlikely spies, played by Kunal and Sparsh Shrivastava. Following the release of the teaser a few weeks ago, the trailer is expected to reveal more about their characters, missions and misadventures.
A special surprise in the film is veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, who makes a cameo in the project. The appearance also carries a personal connection, as Sharmila is Kunal’s mother-in-law. Her role marks her return to Hindi cinema after three years, following her acclaimed performance in Gulmohar series, which premiered directly on OTT platform.

Sharmila Tagore was most recently seen in Suman Ghosh’s Bengali psychological drama Puratawn. Her upcoming appearance in Vibe, which is slated to release in theatres on September 18, will mark her return to the Hindi big screen after 16 years. Her last Hindi theatrical outing was Danish Aslam’s 2010 romantic comedy Break Ke Baad, where she portrayed the mother to Deepika Padukone’s character.
The film also brings Sharmila together with her son-in-law Kunal Kemmu for the first time. Interestingly, the veteran actor has shared screen space with her daughter Soha Ali Khan just once, in the 2009 English-language family drama Life Goes On. She previously worked with her son Saif Ali Khan in the 2007 film Eklavya.

Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe is set to go head-to-head at the box office with Daayra, starring his sister-in-law and Saif Ali Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan. At the trailer launch of Daayra, Kareena praised Kunal for his unmatched comic timing and expressed confidence that both films can find success despite their clash. “Gold toh ghar hi aane wala hai,” she said with a laugh.
For Kunal, Vibe marks another milestone in his journey as a filmmaker after his directorial debut Madgaon Express in 2024. While he made only a cameo appearance in that film, he takes on the lead role in Vibe and is also credited as its writer and director. The project further marks his debut as a producer, with Kunal backing the film alongside Chirag Nihalani under their production banner, Drongo Films.
