Batman fans will have to wait a little longer to see Robert Pattinson return as the hero. Dark The Batman Part II, which was previously slated to release in 2027, has now been pushed to February 18, 2028. The delay comes as a disappointment for DC fans, especially since Superman: Man of Tomorrow is also set to arrive in 2027. Â
Matt Reeves’ directorial has faced multiple postponements since it was first scheduled for release on October 3, 2025. While announcing the latest delay, the filmmakers softened the blow by unveiling the first camera test footage of Pattinson’s Batman.Â
Director Matt Reeves took to social media to share Pattinson’s first look as the Caped Crusader. In the brief clip, the actor slowly turns towards the camera in the darkness, suited up in an updated Batsuit, giving fans their first glimpse of his return.Â

Although fans expressed disappointment over yet another delay, many were thrilled by the first look. One user wrote in the Instagram comments, “Holy god what are you showing me?! Come onnn!! (Complimentary).” Another commented, “Everybody calm down! We’ve waited longer for other sequels. It’ll be okay.”
With its new release date, The Batman Part II will arrive nearly six years after The Batman (2022), which marked Robert Pattinson’s debut as Bruce Wayne. Directed by Matt Reeves, the film received widespread critical acclaim for its grounded detective-noir approach to the iconic superhero and grossed over $772 million worldwide, paving the way for a new Batman saga and HBO’s The Penguin spin-off.Â
Apart from Pattinson, The Batman Part II features returning cast members Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell, alongside new additions including Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch.Â
Pattinson has had a busy year on the big screen. In 2026, he starred in The Drama followed by Christopher Nolan’s mythological epic The Odyssey, portraying Hermes. He will also be seen in The Dune Part 3.Â
