
All eyes are on Tom Holland and Zendaya as the duo’s much-awaited film, The Odyssey has released worldwide on July 17, 2026. The couple, who recently got married is starring in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic The Odyssey. The film features Matt Damon as ‘Greek King Odysseus’, Zendaya as ‘Athena’ and many other leading names.
Tom Holland reveals why Zendaya could not love Matt Damon in The Odyssey
In an interview with Wired, Tom Holland, who plays the character of ‘Telemachus’, jokingly talked about his wife Zendaya’s on-screen love interest Matt Damon in The Odyssey. When asked ‘Did Athena love Odysseus romantically?’, Tom replied, “No because she’s married to me.” Hearing Tom’s answer, Damon, who was also present at the interview, laughed and said, ‘Yep. Good answer.”
After the Trojan War, all the Greek heroes have returned home, but ‘Odysseus’ has not and he has been absent for 20 years from his home. In Ithaca, Odysseus’ wife ‘Penelope’ (Anne Hathaway) and their son ‘Telemachus’ (Tom Holland) are at home and fending off suitors for ‘Penelope’, including ‘Antinous’ (Robert Pattinson). On the other hand, ‘Athena’ (Zendaya) appears in ‘Odysseus’ visions as he attempts to return to his home on Ithaca.
