Vikram Prabhu has officially commenced work on his next feature. On Monday, the makers announced that the actor’s 26th film has gone on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony, marking the beginning of production on the yet-to-be-titled project.
Currently referred to as Vikram Prabhu 26, the film will be directed by newcomer Siddharth, who is making his feature directorial debut. Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has been roped in to score the film’s music. Known for his ability to seamlessly move between commercial entertainers and emotionally driven dramas, Yuvan’s involvement is expected to be one of the film’s major highlights.
The project was first announced in April, shortly after Vikram Prabhu’s Sirai reached theatres earlier this year. While the makers have now confirmed that filming has begun, they have chosen to keep the rest of the details under wraps. Information regarding the supporting cast, technical crew and storyline is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks as production progresses.
The film is being produced by Raahul under the Romeo Pictures banner. Over the past few years, Romeo Pictures has emerged as a prominent name in Tamil cinema, backing and distributing several high-profile releases. The banner previously handled the distribution of Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time and Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, further strengthening its presence in the industry.
Fresh collaborations for actor and producer
The upcoming film marks a fresh creative collaboration for Vikram Prabhu, who continues to balance commercial projects with character-driven roles. His previous outing, Sirai, was directed by debutant Suresh Rajakumari and featured a screenplay by filmmaker Tamizh, who had earlier collaborated with the actor on the critically appreciated Taanakkaran.
Over the years, Vikram Prabhu has built a filmography that spans action dramas, thrillers and rural entertainers. While the makers have not disclosed the genre of his latest project, the combination of a debutant director and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music has already sparked curiosity among fans eager to see what the team has in store.
The announcement also marks another significant production venture for Romeo Pictures. Alongside Vikram Prabhu 26, the banner recently revealed another ambitious project featuring actor-producer Ravi Mohan in the lead.
That film, which is also yet to receive an official title, will be directed by GND Shyam Kumar, another first-time filmmaker. The back-to-back announcements underline Romeo Pictures’ growing focus on introducing new directors while collaborating with established stars.
Although plot details for both films remain tightly guarded, the production house appears to be investing in fresh storytelling voices alongside familiar leading actors. More information regarding casting, shooting schedules and release timelines is expected to be announced over the coming months.
For Vikram Prabhu, the new film represents another important addition to a career that has steadily evolved over the past decade. As production gets underway, audiences will now be waiting to see what director Siddharth’s debut has to offer and how Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music complements the film’s yet-to-be-revealed narrative.
