The Indian music industry was recently taken by surprise when Arijit Singh announced his decision to step away from playback singing. While the news has left fans and colleagues reacting in various ways, Vishal Dadlani has come forward to offer his full support to Arijit.

He said, “Do what makes you happy, man. He has put out some kind of explanation on it. Jo bhi hain, tere dil ka hain, tu kar (whatever it is, you do it). Music is an ocean that exists with or without any of us.” He further praised Arijit’s immense talent, adding, “So cheers! The guy, musically speaking, is a genius. There is no question. Explore; that is what life is for.”

The conversation also touched upon the possibility of Arijit Singh shifting his focus toward independent music. When the host suggested that such a move would be great for the industry, Vishal agreed, though he mentioned that one can only truly judge the work once it is released. Expressing his unwavering support for Arijit’s journey, he said, “Guessing is not my game. As far as I am concerned, I am on his side. Whatever he wants to do is fine.” He spoke warmly of Arijit’s personality, saying, “I love that guy. He is a good guy. Genuine good human being. Good heart, good mind, great music! Do whatever you want.”

Arijit Singh originally shared the news of his retirement on January 27, 2026, via social media. He informed his followers that he would be finishing his current commitments before calling it a day. His post read, “I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”

While he is stepping back from playback singing, Arijit later clarified that he is not quitting music altogether. He has already begun exploring other musical paths, recently releasing a new single titled Raina, which has been met with a positive reception from listeners.
