A clip of Alia Bhatt delivering a heartfelt speech at her best friend Akansha Ranjan Kapoor’s wedding has gone viral on social media. The Guilty actress recently tied the knot with filmmaker Sharan Sharma in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. A video from the celebrations shows Alia giving an emotional bridesmaid speech.
She says, “She is the glue that holds us together. She has the most perfect, special, individual relationship with every girl in the group and she always shows up… which is why when today she showed up, walking down this beautiful aisle, looking like a dream, of course I was looking at her but first I looked at Sharan. Because I was like that’s the boy she’s marrying. And looking at the tears in his eyes, I am like, ‘Chal achcha ho gaya.'”
Alia turned visibly emotional as she continued her speech and struggled to hold back her tears.
Several others also took the stage to share heartfelt messages, including Kayoze Irani, Anushka Ranjan Kapoor, and the bride and groom themselves. During his speech, Sharan quoted Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic dialogue, “Pyaar dosti hai.”
The emotional atmosphere was reflected in the audience as well. The camera panned to filmmaker Karan Johar, who appeared teary-eyed. Athiya Shetty, Vaani Kapoor, and Anushka were also seen getting emotional during the speeches.
Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and filmmaker Sharan Sharma tied the knot on July 11 in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai after dating for four years. The couple chose to marry on the same date they began their relationship, making the occasion even more special. Their low-key celebration was attended by close friends and family, including Alia Bhatt, Athiya Shetty, Karan Johar and Vaani Kapoor, before they hosted a star-studded reception the following day.
