Arijit Singh recently shared the stage with sitar maestro Anoushka Sen during her Kolkata concert. This marked his first performance after he announced his retirement from playback singing. Photos and videos from the event have been circulated on social media that show Singh singing live with Shankar.
He was present as a guest performer at Anoushka’s Kolkata show. The sitar maestro took the audience by surprise when she announced Arijit’s name and welcomed him on stage. He arrived on stage and said, “I am very nervous. Thank you for having me.”
Anoushka and Arijit, joined by Bickram Ghosh, performed Maya Bhora Raati, a track originally performed by Lakshmi Shankar and composed by Anoushka’s father and late sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Last month, Arijit took to social media to share the heartbreaking news of his retirement from playback singing. He wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
He stated that he will continue making music and added, “God has been really kind to me. I am fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist. Thanks again for all your support. I still have to finish some pending commitments , will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music.”
