Watch: Shabana Azmi Shares Glimpses From Delhi Protest As She Backs Education Reform Demands

Shabana Azmi is in Delhi to support the ongoing Sansad Chalo protest and has been sharing regular updates from the ground on social media. The veteran actor recently posted a video of herself making her way through a large crowd with the help of fellow protesters as she attempted to reach the demonstration site at Jantar Mantar.

Recording herself, she is heard saying, “I have reached here.” She wrote, “Climbing up with the help of young colleagues to the protest site at #JantarMantar to demand reforms within our educational system and an overhaul of the entire system. Allocate 6 percent of GDP to education, public health and women’s empowerment to measure the success of our country.”

In another video, the actress was seen reciting a poem related to resistance.

She also shared a photograph from a vehicle carrying fellow protesters, including actor Prakash Raj.

Prakash Raj, who joined the demonstration on Sunday, was seen waving a copy of the Constitution as he addressed protesters. Speaking to PeekTV, he said, “People who speak, the world is watching… who will stand by the people. Simple.”

When asked whether he was happy with the response from the film industry, Raj said, “It is not the question of being happy. Now you know who is what. Such movements show who has got the integrity, who will stand for the people. Who am I to say? I can talk to myself. People have great voices, great actors… I wish they used it for this. They have not, people will judge. When history is written tomorrow, they may forgive those who made a mistake, but they will never forgive those who were silent.”

The protest at Jantar Mantar is part of the youth-led Sansad Chalo movement, which has gained nationwide attention over demands for reforms in India’s education system following the NEET examination paper leak controversy.

The agitation, backed by education activist Sonam Wangchuk, has called for greater accountability and systemic reforms. The march coincided with the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session and drew thousands of protesters despite heavy security deployment across central Delhi.

Support for the movement has also come from several public figures, including Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, Swara Bhasker and Sonakshi Sinha, among others.
