Why Arent Fans Happy With BLACKPINK LISAs New Lightstick?

BLACKPINK’s LISA has recently unveiled a new lightstick. While her fans have been using BLACKPINK’s official lightstick to cheer her, the K-Pop star has finally revealed the look of her own lightstick. The actress surprised her fans by unveiling the new lightstick at a live broadcast. She gave an exclusive look to fans who joined her in the live chat and asked them to stay tuned for the merch to be available worldwide. While fans have shown excitement about LISA’s merch, many were dissatisfied with the lightstick.

What is a lightstick?

A lightstick is a merch item that fans usually carry during live shows and concerts. Many artists sell their own lightsticks, which fans purchase to wave during live performances.

K-Pop idols have introduced the concept of lightsticks, but it was also prevalent with celebrities from the ’90s. Among the idols, BTS, BLACKPINK, (G)-IDLE and more have introduced their own lightsticks. Not only these groups, most K-pop groups have their own merchandise, which includes many versions of lightsticks.

Why are fans disappointed with LISA’s new lightstick?

Fans love the design of LISA’s new lightstick. It features a five-pointed white star with colour-changing abilities. Many fans praised LISA for the aesthetic value of the merch but aren’t happy with its pointed edges. Social media users on Reddit and X have weighed in on the design, with many refusing to purchase it for safety concerns.

Many users have also noted that the lightstick appears pretty but may not be allowed in UK and USA venues due to its sharp edges. “Looks hard, but I would NOT want to stand next to someone waving that thing around. Could end bloody,” a user on a Reddit discussion group commented.

Another user noted, “It’s cute and on-brand but from a product design perspective, looks a bit tone deaf to an environment where it’s going to be used and a potential risk I wouldn’t want imposed on unhinged concert crowds.”

On the professional front, LISA is set to release her solo album, Alter Ego, on February 28. It consists of 15 tracks. Pre-released songs, including Rockstar, New Woman, Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me), and Born Again are also a part of the tracklist.
