Mrs. was premiered on Zee5 on February 7, 2025, which was also the first day of Valentine’s Week. The film was absolutely spot on for the occasion of ‘Rose Day’. While it showcased the beautiful side of arranged marriage and how things look beautiful in the beginning, it also showcased the uncomfortable reality of so many Indian women who are living in a house full of thorns. Arati Kadav directed Zee5’s Mrs., and it is the official remake of the iconic Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen, which was directed by Jeo Baby back in 2021.

In a conversation with the Hindustan Times, Mrs.‘s director, Arati Kadav, revealed why she decided to remake Jeo Baby’s iconic film, The Great Indian Kitchen. The filmmaker revealed that she believes North India needs to see this film because it is also very relevant to them. However, she also added that her mother wanted to see The Great Indian Kitchen but couldn’t watch it because she doesn’t know Malayalam and is not used to subtitles. Hence, as a result, she made Mrs. for her mother so that she could watch this iconic story. She said:
“I felt that this story needs to be set in North India and reach a larger audience. This film is so relevant for North India. I felt they needed to see it.”
