Kayadu Lohar Explains Promoting Iâm Game While Missing Immortal Events

Kayadu Lohar has found herself at the centre of an unexpected debate after two of her films, I’m Game and Immortal, arrived in theatres in the same week. While the actress participated in promotional activities for I’m Game, including the film’s audio launch in Kakkanad, she was noticeably absent from events surrounding Immortal. Her absence led some sections of social media to speculate that she had chosen one film over the other.

Kayadu has now addressed the discussion, explaining that her limited availability, rather than any preference between the two projects, was behind her promotional appearances. In an interview with Galatta Plus, the actress said she had only one day available for promotional commitments and happened to use it for I’m Game. She also pointed out that the Immortal team had not scheduled any promotional events during the period when she was available.

“I went for the promotion of I’m Game only for one day; that was the only day I could spare for promotions. ‘Immortal’ team had not planned any events at that time. Besides, I was busy with a new movie starring Suriya. I couldn’t attend the rest of the events of I’m Game,” Kayadu said in the interview.

Kayadu Explains Her Absence From Immortal Promotions

The discussion gained traction after Kayadu attended the I’m Game audio launch, while she did not appear at promotional events for Immortal. With both films featuring her as the female lead, the contrasting visibility naturally prompted questions about whether she was prioritising one release over the other.

According to Kayadu, however, the situation was simply a consequence of her work commitments. The actress was already shooting for another project, which left little room in her schedule for promotional activities. She also clarified that even her participation in I’m Game’s campaign was limited to a single day.

Social media reactions nevertheless continued, with some users accusing the actress of deliberately choosing I’m Game over Immortal. Kayadu said she was not particularly concerned about such opinions and acknowledged that audiences are entitled to interpret the situation in their own way.

The actress added that criticism and backlash are not unfamiliar territory for her, suggesting that she has learned to deal with the scrutiny that comes with working in the film industry. For Kayadu, the focus now remains on the films themselves and the response they receive from audiences.

Two Releases, Two Different Journeys

I’m Game marks Kayadu’s second Malayalam film after her debut in the period drama Pallichattambi. Directed by Nahas Hidayath, the film features Antony Varghese, Mysskin and Kathir in important roles, with Dulquer Salmaan and Kayadu leading the cast. The film has opened to positive reviews, giving Kayadu another opportunity to establish herself in Malayalam cinema.

Immortal, meanwhile, takes the actress into a very different world. The fantasy horror film is written and directed by Mariyappan Chinna and stars Kayadu opposite GV Prakash Kumar. The film had originally been scheduled to release earlier but was subsequently postponed, with the makers opting to avoid a clash with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.

The eventual arrival of both films in the same week created an unusual situation for Kayadu, putting two of her performances before audiences simultaneously. While the circumstances surrounding their promotions have generated conversation, the actress’s explanation makes it clear that scheduling constraints were the primary reason for her limited participation.

With both films now in theatres, Kayadu’s back-to-back releases also mark an important phase in her career. After making her Malayalam debut with Pallichattambi, the actress is now appearing in two projects with distinctly different genres and leading men. How audiences respond to the films could shape the next phase of her growing presence in South Indian cinema.
