During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Prithviraj Sukumaran dived deep into his character in Daayra. In 2017, during a promotional tour for Lucifer, he spoke about how anger was one thing he truly despised about himself. Nine years later, we got to follow up on this battle and here’s his revert.
When asked about how the progress has been after all these years, he straightforwardly revealed, ” I have been a spectacular failure at working on my anger management issues.”
At this comment, the director of Daayra, Meghna Gulzar funnily added, “Just learn to hide it better.”
Prithviraj also jokingly mentioned how this trait of his perfectly aligns with the character he plays in Daayra. He said, “That is one of the few things I identify with Raman.” His avatar, DCP Raman Kumar, holds a grim appearance throughout the trailer, ready to go to any lengths to serve justice. What exactly triggers him to be this way is something that we learn when the movie releases.
He further said, “That is one of my weak traits. I am not fully in control of my anger, and I am not proud of it at all. It is something that I have attempted working on.”
With all that’s going on, Prithviraj acknowledges how being a parent has helped with this transformational journey. He added, “It is marginally better now, and being a father has got a lot to do with that. I am slightly better than what I used to be. But it is one emotion I have not mastered yet. I am still not fully in control of not becoming angry.”
Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra will soon release in theatres, with the official date set as September 18, 2026. Kareena Kapoor Khan will be playing the role of an observant cop, Ajooni Kohli, and Prithviraj will portray a vengeful officer, both honouring their own versions of justice.
