With Daayra’s release just a week away, the hype around it continues to amplify. The National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra will feature an ensemble of stars, including the protagonists Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Both of these police officers, while on the same side of the law, have their individual means of handling justice.
Prithviraj Sukumaran recently had a conversation with Yuvaa alongside his co-star, Kareena Kapoor Khan. During this interview, he took the time to discuss important topics such as the evolving expectations of the audience and the impact of good writing, among others.
While he covered a lot of important topics, one particular statement left a lingering curiosity. A topic popped up highlighting exactly which type of films could spark interest amongst the audience.
Kareena Kapoor Khan discussed how she likes to choose different types of roles to avoid being typecast and that she feels privileged to have worked with various talented directors. Meghna Gulzar expressed how one doesn’t need to be a woman to give the female characters a powerful voice. The topic then steered towards how pairing a young actor with an actress could potentially boost the success of the film. Kareena mentioned how the newer audience looks forward to better scripts and narratives.
Prithviraj, however, felt differently, giving an apt example to illustrate his point. He said, “If Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes a film with Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, I will definitely watch first day first show.” The other participants in attendance also agreed with his statement.
