Bollywood has always had people whose families have been in the industry for years, but every once in a while, a new debut comes with a particularly interesting connection to the industry. Abir Singh, son of Salman Khan’s trusted bodyguard Gurmeet Singh Jolly, better known as Shera, is set to enter the world of Hindi cinema with Tarzan. The film will also feature actor Sooraj Pancholi, bringing together two names with strong Bollywood connections.
Shera has been one of Salman Khan’s most trusted associates for decades and has remained a constant presence by the superstar’s side through films, public appearances and events. His association with Salman has made him a familiar face to Bollywood followers, while his professional journey has established him as one of the most recognisable celebrity bodyguards in the country.
Now, it is his son Abir who is preparing to take centre stage. Rather than remaining behind the scenes like his father, Abir is looking to build a career in front of the camera. His launch is naturally expected to attract considerable attention, given his proximity to one of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
Adding another layer of industry pedigree to this highly-anticipated project is Sooraj Pancholi. The son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, Sooraj Pancholi made his acting debut with Hero in 2015 and went on to feature in films including Satellite Shankar, Time to Dance and Kesari Veer. He has also worked behind the camera as an assistant director earlier in his career.
With Tarzan, the spotlight will now be on Abir to prove that while his Bollywood connections may open the door, his performance will determine how far he goes.
