Ameesha Patelâs Parents Lose Jewellery Worth Rs 5 Lakh in Alleged Churchgate Theft

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel’s family has reportedly been caught up in a theft case after gold and diamond jewellery worth around Rs 5 lakh went missing from her parents’ residence in Mumbai’s Churchgate area. Mumbai Police have arrested a domestic worker in connection with the alleged incident and are currently investigating the case and attempting to recover the missing jewellery.

According to police, the accused has been identified as 40-year-old Seema Ghate, a domestic worker from Palghar. She had reportedly been employed at the home of Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel, for around one-and-a-half years before the alleged theft came to light.

The case was registered by the Marine Drive police after Asha Patel approached the authorities with a complaint. Ghate was subsequently traced to Virar by a crime detection team and taken into custody. She was produced before a court, which remanded her to police custody until September 15.

What police have revealed about the alleged theft

The alleged theft reportedly dates back to January 2026, when a bangle went missing from the residence. According to the police, Asha Patel suspected that Ghate could have been involved in the disappearance.

The complaint was not filed immediately. Police said that over the next five to six months, Asha allegedly asked the domestic worker to acknowledge the theft and return the jewellery. When the bangle was reportedly not returned, she eventually approached the Marine Drive police and formally lodged a complaint.

The case was initially registered against an unidentified woman. Following the complaint, a crime detection team began investigating the matter and traced the suspected accused to Virar. Ghate was subsequently detained and brought before the court.

The police are now trying to recover the allegedly stolen jewellery. The bangle in question has not yet been recovered, and the investigation is also looking into whether Ghate has any previous criminal record. As the matter remains under investigation, the allegations against the accused have not been established in court.

She followed it with a diverse selection of projects and went on to feature in films such as Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Humraaz, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2. Her performance as Sakeena in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, released in 2001, became one of the most recognisable roles of her career.

The alleged theft at her parents’ Churchgate home is now being investigated by the Marine Drive police, with the recovery of the missing jewellery and further details of the case expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
