On September 11, 2001, two hijacked planes hit the World Trade Center towers in New York, bringing them down and killing nearly 3,000 people. It was one of the darkest days in American history.
Among the survivors was Marcy Borders, a 28-year-old legal assistant working in the North Tower. A single photo of her, covered head-to-toe in gray dust after escaping, became a haunting reminder of the day. The world would come to know her as “The Dust Lady.” On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the story of The Dust Lady has once again come into the limelight.
Who was Marcy Borders, and how did she survive the North Tower collapse?
