The family took such drastic steps after the girl eloped with her boyfriend, who is being informed to be from a different caste. The family not only decided to cut ties with the girl. The family is reported to hail from the Khachrod region of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The young woman, Megha, expressed her desire to marry her boyfriend, but her family denied her as the man was from a different caste. The girl then went on to defy her family’s wishes and got married against their consent.
