Reports recently suggested that Tabu was upset after a significant portion of her role was allegedly trimmed in the final cut of the film. Some even claimed that Akshay Kumar had a hand in reducing her screen time, fuelling speculation about behind-the-scenes friction.
However, director Priyadarshan has now stepped in to shut down the speculation and he isn’t mincing words.
Director sets the record straight
Addressing the controversy, Priyadarshan firmly dismissed any claims of tension between his lead actors. He made it clear that all creative decisions, especially editing, fall solely under his authority.
He emphasised that neither Akshay Kumar nor any other actor interferes in the editing process, adding that such rumours are baseless and unnecessary. According to him, “I decide what to keep and what not to,” reinforcing his role as the final authority behind the film’s cut.
Is Tabu really upset?
Contrary to the speculation, the filmmaker revealed that Tabu is not upset at all. In fact, he stated that she is completely satisfied with the film and that everything she shot for has been included.
Given their long-standing professional relationship, spanning multiple films, he pointed out that any genuine concern would have been communicated directly, not through rumours. He also highlighted the mutual trust they share, which has remained consistent over the years.
The bigger picture
Despite the noise, Bhooth Bangla continues to perform strongly at the box office, proving that audience reception hasn’t been affected by the off-screen chatter. The controversy, while attention-grabbing, appears to have had little impact on the film’s overall momentum.
At the end of the day, what seemed like a brewing controversy appears to be nothing more than industry gossip, swiftly debunked by the filmmaker himself. In an industry where narratives can quickly get distorted, this serves as a reminder to separate fact from speculation.
