Ever since the teaser for Ramayana dropped, fans have been dissecting every frame. Recently, one specific detail sparked a massive debate online: a background actor known as the blue turban guy. After a sequence showed his turban changing colour from blue to purple between shots, social media was flooded with theories that the crowd scenes were generated by AI. However, the man at the centre of the storm has now stepped forward to clear the air.
Identifying himself as Saket Patel, the actor confirmed that he is very much real and so was the entire shoot. Addressing the viral speculation in a video message, he said, “I’m Saket Patel. I am an actor, and believe me, I’m not AI.” He dismissed the allegations that technology had replaced human effort in the scene, which features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama walking through a flower-laden Ayodhya.
Saket clarified that the sequence was a massive practical undertaking, filmed long before the current AI craze. He shared, “People are fully convinced that I’m AI-generated. I shot for this two years ago with a real crowd, real set, real me and real Ranbir Kapoor in front of me.” Reflecting on the scepticism of modern audiences, he added, “In 2026, if something looks too nice, people call it fake.”
Saket also took to X to reinforce his message, urging the audience to respect the craftsmanship behind the film. He wrote, “Hi, I’m Saket Patel—the ‘blue turban guy’ is not AI. Real shoot, real people, real effort. Maybe it’s time we appreciate the work instead of questioning everything. Respect the work that goes into filmmaking.”
This clarification comes at a time when Ramayana is making headlines for its unprecedented scale. Produced by Namit Malhotra with a reported budget of Rs 4,000 crore ($500 million) for both parts, the project is being described as one of the largest films in the world. Namit recently mentioned that while the budget is ambitious, they are working more efficiently than some of the biggest Hollywood films to bring the great epic to a global audience.
With a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Yash, and a musical score by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, Ramayana continues to be the most talked-about project in Indian cinema.
