Hunkkaar: The Road follows the narrative of a young girl, refusing to stay silent about the crimes she’s endured. Serving as a victim of sexual assault, she is expected to remain silent. However, she refuses to back down, creating the premise for this thrilling and bold experience. The trailer takes you through a world, with each scene sparking curiosity towards the build-up. As we keep watching, many characters make their presence known, revealing a much larger force at play.
The movie is directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia. The creators include Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra. Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, A Mangata Films production, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas being the Executive Producer.
Talking about the trailer, Priyanka Chopra Jonas said, “As a producer, I’ve always wanted to stand behind stories that have something to say, and Hunkkaar: The Roar is very much that. I also really believe in Nitya and Karan as filmmakers. I’m incredibly proud of what this entire cast and crew has created, and It’s been a privilege to be a small part of this journey. I hope the story stays with audiences the way it stayed with me.”
Fatima Shaikh plays the role of ACP Jasleen Singh Soni in Hunkkaar: The Roar. On her experience playing the character, she said, “What drew me to Jasleen was her ability to remain focused on her responsibility even as the world around the investigation becomes increasingly complicated. She is dealing with power, influence, public opinion, and the pressure that comes with a case of this magnitude, but she continues to search for what is true. Hunkkaar: The Roar gave me the opportunity to explore a character who is constantly navigating that difficult space between what you see, what you are told, and what you ultimately choose to believe.”
The protagonist of the film is Aneet Padda, playing the role of a 17-year-old sexual assault victim, Meenu Rawat. On playing Meenu, she said, “Meenu isn’t defined by what happened to her, but by what she chooses after. She’s young, complicated, and not always easy to understand. That’s what makes her real. Her one constant? A refusal to be silenced. I hope audiences see her vulnerability and the defiance at the heart of her journey.”
