Kareena Kapoor Khan has taken viewers behind the making of Daayra with a new BTS video that offers a closer look at Meghna Gulzar’s crime thriller, its principal characters and the people shaping the film. Released on social media on September 12, the video moves between candid moments from the sets, interviews with the key creative voices and glimpses of the film’s intense world.
The video places Kareena’s DCP Ajooni Kohli firmly at its centre. Titled “Inside Ajooni’s Mind”, one of its recurring sections sees the actor reflect on the character while footage from the film and its making plays alongside her. Kareena is seen in both her police uniform and civilian look as cameras capture her working through scenes, conferring with the team and filming emotionally charged sequences.
Inside Ajooni’s World
The BTS material provides glimpses of the circumstances surrounding Ajooni’s investigation, without giving away the film’s central mystery. There are sequences involving police personnel, tense exchanges, crowded locations and moments of distress, while other portions show the quieter process of putting those scenes together.
The camera also follows Kareena through rehearsals and takes, offering a sense of how closely the actor and director worked together. Production footage shows crew members setting up shots, monitoring takes and working around the actors, giving the video the feel of an actual set diary rather than a conventional promotional featurette.
The Voices Behind Daayra
Meghna Gulzar features in an interview as Director/Writer, speaking about the film, while writers Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani also appear together to discuss their work. Prithviraj Sukumaran, introduced as Raman, is seen speaking about his character and the film from an outdoor location.
The footage also offers several glimpses of Prithviraj as DCP Raman Kumar, alongside scenes featuring Kareena’s Ajooni and the supporting cast. Police stations, outdoor locations, vehicles, crowds and night-time setups all contribute to the atmosphere of the thriller, while monitors showing scenes being filmed underline the collaborative process behind the finished product.
Daayra, inspired by true events, follows DCP Ajooni Kohli and DCP Raman Kumar as a controversial case places the two officers on opposing sides of the same system. The film explores questions of truth, accountability and the moral boundaries of justice.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar and written by Gulzar, Yash Keswani and Sima Agarwal, Daayra stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in their first screen collaboration. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 18.
