
After an ambitious start, Max Verstappen’s hopes for securing a podium finish at the British Grand Prix have come to a frustrating end. It happened after a mechanical failure forced him to retire from the race at Silverstone. In fact, the Red Bull driver was running strong before an unexpected issue with his RB22 sent him spinning into the gravel. This has added to his difficult 2026 Formula One season.
Max Verstappen’s British GP ends his wish for podium finish
Max Verstappen’s crash occurred during the final stages of the July 5, 2026 race. During that time, he was running in third place. Some videos shared by Formula 1 showed his car suddenly losing control before it spun off the track and into the gravel. Team radio suggested that RB22 had a rear-wing problem. In turn, it caused a sudden loss of downforce, leaving Max unable to control the car.
