
Abhinandan Varthaman, the former IAF Wing Commander has recently stepped down from his duties. He took a premature retirement from the Indian Air Force (IAF) and embarked on a new venture. The former fighter pilot has now transitioned to a commercial pilot, joining FLY91, a Goa-based airline, in September 2026. Abhinandan gained international prominence in 2019 after his altercation with Pakistan’s fighter jets, detention in PoK, and eventual release.

However, when he ejected from his damaged aircraft, he landed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and was taken into custody by the rival nation’s army.
