She believed that feminism was about advocating equal rights and opportunities for both genders who wanted to pursue their dreams. Her views on women drinking and wearing skimpy clothes as men do the same do not make them feminist was questioned by netizens. Her opinions on women being ‘caregivers’ and men being ‘protectors’ were also not taken well by the netizens. They slammed her husband, Himalaya Dasani, for dominating and making the actress leave Bollywood.

During an interview with Hauterrfly, Bhagyashree said she did not blame only the men but also women for not understanding the concept of feminism. She spoke about bra-burning women who say they will wear what they want, talk, and do what they like. She said it was not equality as misbehaving, getting sloshed, and wearing fewer clothes did not make one a feminist. The video went viral on Reddit and angered netizens. They subtly called her husband, Himalaya, a male chauvinist.
