Taking to his X (Twitter), Nirmal Nims Purja wrote on July 27, 2026, that the initial plan was to climb Gasherbrum II, but adding Broad Peak would take them one step closer to making a world record. According to Nims Purja, he would become the first person to climb all 14 eight-thousanders twice without supplemental oxygen.
