During the month of December last year, Nora Fatehi had taken a flight from Mumbai to Jaipur. For this trip, she was using the services of the Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft, which comes under the operation of Dunes Aviation. During this trip, Nora Fatehi recorded a lot of videos inside the private aircraft and later posted them online via her Instagram account. While the video was harmless, what made it an issue were the captions accompanying the videos. She jokingly said how small the chartered jet felt and looked like a miniature toy or a Lego airplane.
This matter is reportedly set to come up in court before the senior civil judge R Agarwal on September 25, 2026.
As per the suit, Dunes Aviation made a claim that Nora Fatehi holds a large following on her social media, which, as stated, is more than 4.6 crore. Dunes Aviation feels that the post has caused a lot of reputational and commercial damage. This ranges from cancellations of bookings to a decline in overall business. They came out with figures mentioning that bookings had dropped by a staggering 15% to 20%, and cancellations had increased after the post went live. They have described Nora Fatehi’s actions as reckless, irresponsible, and based on a lack of factual basis rather than technical knowledge.
In defence of the aircraft, they stated that the Cessna Citation CJ2 used by Nora Fatehi was a standard aircraft and appropriately sized for the distance and the load. They also added that the aircraft was in compliance with the legalities under a Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP) and was DGCA-certified.
Along with the Rs 3 crore fine, Dunes Aviation sued Nora Fatehi; they have also asked for the social media posts to be removed and a public statement by her regarding her comments.
