The title of Shivarajkumar and Abishan Jeevinth’s upcoming film has been revealed. Titled Picasso, the film marks the directorial debut of Gowtham Sivaraman and brings together the celebrated Kannada actor with one of Tamil cinema’s most promising young talents. Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty unveiled the title and first look on social media, offering audiences their first glimpse of the project.
Backed by A Balamurugan under the Drama Company banner, Picasso has already attracted attention for its unusual casting combination. While Shivarajkumar is one of the most recognisable stars in Kannada cinema, Abishan has been making his presence felt in Tamil cinema with a series of notable projects following his acclaimed directorial debut.
Picasso reunites Abishan Jeevinth with Yogalakshmi
Picasso marks another collaboration between Abishan Jeevinth and actor Yogalakshmi, following their work together in Tourist Family. The 2025 film, which Abishan wrote and directed, earned him considerable attention and established him as a filmmaker to watch. He subsequently stepped into the lead role with With Love, where he shared the screen with Anaswara Rajan.
The reunion with Yogalakshmi adds another interesting dimension to Picasso. The actor is currently part of Vetri Maaran and Silambarasan TR’s Arasan and is also headlining the JioHotstar series The Court. With her growing body of work across films and streaming projects, Picasso adds another intriguing title to her upcoming slate.
The film also features Shivani Nagaram, who is known for her role in Little Hearts, along with Gana Vinoth. The combination of established performers and younger actors suggests that the debut directorial could have a sizeable ensemble at its centre.
Shivarajkumar adds star power to debutant Gowtham Sivaraman’s film
For Shivarajkumar, Picasso is among several projects keeping the veteran actor busy across industries. He was most recently seen in Ram Charan’s Peddi and has a number of high-profile appearances lined up. His upcoming projects include Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, where he reprises his popular character Narasimha, as well as Gummadi Narsaiah.
Picasso, however, sees Shivarajkumar in a fresh collaboration with a debutant filmmaker. Gowtham Sivaraman takes charge as director, with the film backed by a technical crew featuring cinematographer Pragadeesh Prabhu S, composer Leon James, editor Sureshkumar K and art director Viju Vijayan.
The first look and title announcement have set the stage for more details about the project, with the makers yet to reveal the complete plot or the nature of Shivarajkumar and Abishan’s characters. Given the combination of Shivarajkumar’s screen presence, Abishan’s rising profile and Gowtham Sivaraman’s debut behind the camera, Picasso is shaping up as a project worth watching.
