Rocking Star Yash’s upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, is now set to release on March 19, 2026. The chosen release date falls during a four-day festive weekend, coinciding with Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Navratri, and Eid-al-Fitr, which could benefit its theatrical run across different regions. This marks Yash’s first film after the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), making it one of the most anticipated releases in Kannada cinema.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is being made in Kannada and English, marking a significant step for Kannada cinema in terms of production scale and language accessibility. It will also be dubbed in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, to reach a broader audience. The first glimpse of the film was released on January 8, 2025, featuring Yash in a vintage gangster look, hinting at a stylized action drama. Hollywood action choreographer JJ Perry is involved in designing the stunts, and actor Kyle Paul has confirmed his participation. The film’s visual style and narrative appear to draw inspiration from American gangster films, setting a distinctive tone.
The full cast has not been officially announced, but reports suggest Kiara Advani and Nayanthara may be part of the project. The film is expected to explore themes inspired by classic gangster films, with a visual style reflecting that influence. Yash’s return to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) has drawn attention, especially with the film being positioned as a large-scale production.
During the film’s shoot, a controversy arose when Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre alleged that trees were illegally cut on forestland in Bengaluru. The production team, however, denied any violations, stating they followed necessary regulations. Despite the delay in release, Toxic remains a project of interest, especially with its international collaborations and bilingual approach.
