Ram Charan and Sukumar’s much-awaited reunion, tentatively titled RC17, is reportedly moving into its next phase. According to industry buzz, the film’s scripting is nearing completion, with the project expected to be formally launched in the coming weeks. Regular shooting is likely to begin in November, while details about the cast and technical crew are expected to be announced closer to production.
Ram Charan completed filming Peddi earlier this year, giving him a substantial break before commencing work on what is expected to be another physically demanding role. The gap has reportedly allowed Sukumar additional time to fine-tune the screenplay for the ambitious project.
Speculation around RC17 continues
RC17 was officially announced in March 2024, when Ram Charan shared a Holi photograph with Sukumar, confirming their reunion after Rangasthalam. Since then, speculation surrounding the film’s genre and storyline has continued.
During the success celebrations of Peddi, fans repeatedly sought an update on RC17. Sukumar, however, chose to remain tight-lipped, teasing audiences by saying they should continue imagining the film’s scale rather than revealing details prematurely.
While earlier reports suggested an urban action drama with elements of romance and adventure, recent industry chatter indicates the makers are still refining the film’s creative direction.
A blockbuster reunion awaits
Expectations for RC17 remain exceptionally high, largely because it reunites the duo behind Rangasthalam, one of Telugu cinema’s most acclaimed blockbusters. Released in 2018, the film marked a significant milestone for both Ram Charan and Sukumar, with Charan’s performance as Chittibabu earning widespread acclaim.
Over the years, both actor and director have frequently acknowledged the creative partnership that made Rangasthalam such a landmark success, further fuelling anticipation for their next collaboration.
Meanwhile, Ram Charan’s latest release, Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and featuring music by AR Rahman, emerged as the biggest commercial success of his career.
