Nims Purja went missing after the unfortunate avalanche that hit the Broad Peak. Since the incident, ten climbers are reported to have gone missing, four of whom were found dead while the search for the remaining six is still ongoing. Amid that, Nims’ last voice note has surfaced online.
Nims Purja’s last voice message surfaces amid disappearance
Nims Purja sent a voice message to NDTV’s Vishnu Som hours before his disappearance, as reported by the news outlet. According to the report, on the morning of July 29, 2026, around 8 AM, Vishnu got a WhatsApp voice message from Nims. For the unversed, Vishnu had contacted the mountaineer regarding an event, and Nims accidentally downloaded the text while checking the weather on his phone, as he allegedly mentioned in his voice message.
In the voice note, Nims Purja mentioned that he was on Camp 2 of the Broad Peak and was running his 58th summit of an 8,000-meter peak. He told Vishnu Som that he would be in touch after the summit was over and was quoted as saying:
