George Clooney and Amal Clooney, along with their twins, have safely relocated from their home in France amid the wildfires. For the uninitiated, the family were living in the town of Brignoles, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeastern France. Writing a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, Didier Brémond, George empathized with the people who have been going through this grave incident. Amid this, George and Amal’s significant age gap came under the spotlight.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney share a significant age gap
According to reports, George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, share an age gap of 17 years. The couple met back in 2013. Back then, George was 52, and Amal was 35. In a candid interview with the New York Times, George shared that he thought his age would be a dealbreaker when he first met Amal. George mentioned that he didn’t really think he had a chance with her as she seemed to have everything she needed. Fortunately, things worked out for George and the couple got married in 2014. In his words:
“I didn’t really think I’d have much of a chance with her. Because I was 17 years older and she seemed to have everything she needed. I had this conversation with Amal when I turned 60. I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90.'”
