Plotline of Batwara 1947 (Spoiler alert)
Batwara 1947 follows a Muslim man named ‘Sikander Mirza’ (played by Sunny Deol) and his family. It includes his wife, ‘Hamida S. Mirza’ (played by Preity Zinta) and their children, ‘Javed Mirza’ (played by Karan Deol) and ‘Tanvir Mirza’ (played by Khushi Hajare). After the 1947 Partition, ‘Sikandar’ and his family acquire a haveli deserted by a Hindu family. However, as they reach the haveli, they meet ‘Durgavati Kishenpal Devi’, a.k.a ‘Mai’ (played by Shabana Azmi), the matriarch of a Hindu family.
